Seeking representative on the Oxford Area Recreation Authority
Elk Township Board of Supervisors are seeking a township resident to represent the township on the Oxford Area Recreation Authority. The OARA board meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Lower Oxford Township building or at the park during good weather months. Availability to attend meetings is important.
Board members usually attend special events at the park to help with set-up or other duties, such as staffing the Halloween event, ticket-taking and manning baseball skills stations for Pitch Hit and Run event. There are work days at the park where maintenance chores such as weeding, planting, etc. are done. No one is expected to do everything, but as availability and ability allows, board members help with park projects such as Halloween event construction, playground construction, tree cutting, brush removal etc.
An outdoors or sports-oriented skill set is helpful but assistance is also needed in publicity, fundraising, grant-writing etc.
Please contact the Elk Township secretary for more information.
